I joined the chorus because I love to sing! I love being around people with the same passion that I do. This is my first year singing with the chorus. I joined during the Christmas concert in 2010.

My dream job is kind of a stretch but I would love to be a singer/actress/dancer on Broadway!

In my free time I like to play the piano and listen to all sorts of music from Handel to Lady GaGa. So my life pretty much revolves around music! :)

I joined the Worthington Chorus in the Fall of 2009 as a gift to myself in anticipation of my 50th birthday. I grew up singing and surrounding myself with music whenever and wherever I could. I was the co-founder and 3 year member of an all female A Capella group in boarding school and was a 4 year member of the Kenyon College Chamber Singers. Since college, I was busy being a nurse (Infectious Disease and Public Health), wife, and a Mom of 2 boys (one with special needs). I didn't feel I could devote the time needed to sing in a regularly scheduled group. Now that my boys are grown and my life much less hectic, it is time for me to pursue my own dreams again and the things I love - singing being at the top of my list! I plan to be with my Worthington Chorus family for many years to come!

In my free time, I like to daydream (who doesn't?), read, write song lyrics and poems, travel, and spend time with my friends and family.

My dream job would consist of being a nurse with the charity organization Operation Smile traveling to locations around the globe to provide free, safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities and giving their families and communities hope for a normal life for those children.

I have been with the chorus since January 2009. Feels like much shorter! Too much fun is had, and I have the feeling that the best is yet to come.

I joined WC because I missed singing with a group. Singing by yourself is a great ego boost and all, but there's a richness of sound you can only achieve with a group of like-minded individuals. Plus, our onstage productions are amazing!

When not having ridiculous amounts of fun in WC, I am an acupuncturist practicing out of two offices in Westerville and Clintonville, and I foster cats for various animal shelters.

Darlene Thompson
I joined the Chorus for the Spring 1996 show, but I have had to sit out a couple of seasons due to job/health.

I joined because I had not been singing since I had moved to Columbus in 1988 and really missed it. I like singing with community groups.

Free Time: what's that??

Publicity Coordinator

I have been singing with the Worthington Chorus since January 2008.

I joined the chorus as a New Year’s Resolution – I wanted to be musical again. I had been involved in band and chorus all through high school and college, but that all stopped after graduating. I missed being part of a musical group. I found the chorus online and found a welcoming and fun group of people!

My day job is web graphic design. In my free time, I ballroom dance, sing karaoke, volunteer for the CYP CLUB and Dress for Success Columbus, and spend time with my friends (and most of them sing in the Chorus!)

I first sang with the Worthington Chorus in 1998 at my daughter Kelli's behest.

I joined because of my daughter, enjoy learning music, giving the ham in me some time and being able to enjoy an endeavor with my daughter.

In my free time, I own my own Beverage Brokerage business affords me little time outside of it, but I do enjoy golf, boating and time with family and friends.

I have been singing with the Chorus since September of 2009.

I joined the Chorus because, first and foremost, I am a music lover. As an extension of my love for music, I sing. It started with Tuesday karaoke nights at a restaurant and bar where my mom used to run a karaoke show. Eventually, I joined a chorus in college. After I graduated, I wanted to continue singing (other than just in karaoke bars). I also believe that singing is an important form of personal expression. A feeling or emotion can often be expressed through a song much more effectively than it can be through words alone.

My dream job would probably be any job where I get paid to sing. Either that or sports commentating.

I've been in the Chorus since January 2010!

I joined because I love singing and wanted to do it with a group instead of just singing alone in the shower.

I have no free time because I have a 3-year old, but if I did, I would read, knit, do yoga, run, and KARAOKE! I like to cook and eat, too.

My dream jobs include, but are not limited to: children's librarian, broadway star, extra on Glee, writer, wedding planner, owner of a sweet and excellent boutique of some sort, restaurant reviewer, and food taster in a test kitchen.

I have been singing with the Chorus for 30 years. This makes me the longest continuous member singing at this time.

I enjoy singing with the Chorus because there is such a wide range of ages and singing experience, you can interact comfortably up to your level of ability and expand your skills as well. The Chorus goes beyond “singing heads” all the way up to musical theater which is a lot of fun. Plus I have made many new friends with similar interests.

When I am not singing, I volunteer at the Worthington Thrift Shop which raises money for the Columbus Cancer Clinic of Life Care Alliance.

I have been a member of the chorus since 1984. I had been active in music (mostly band) in high school, but didn't realize groups like this existed. A friend invited me to a show and I was hooked. At that time, I was working many, many hours and the chorus was a wonderful and therapeutic outlet. There were 80-100 members then. The chorus is much more enjoyable now because you get a chance to know everyone on a more personal level. I met my best friend in the chorus. Through the years I have served as librarian, publicity coordinator, treasurer and 4 terms as president.

My dream job is no job.

Jillian Gessner
I joined the Chorus in the Fall 2010 because I love to sing when I was little I wanted to be a singer!!!!

My dream job would be to have a big farm where I could take in all kinds of animals that need homes.

In my free time I love the water boating fishing or just chilling on the beach!!!

Joe Hillsman
I have been singing with the Chorus for five years.

I have always enjoyed singing; it adds sparkle to my life.
